PLANTS: Seeds sown now will be up and running in about three weeks.
Give them another three weeks after they have been pricked out and potted on, and they will be ready for the garden. As most seed packets contain many more seeds than are needed, why not give Sally Friday a call on 323602.
She and her friends, who look after the trading hut at the allotments, would welcome any surplus plants for their plant sale, which is on D-Day, June 6.
HELP: While on the subject of D-Day, there is still time to offer financial help to the Old Basing Royal British Legion Corp of Drums, or in simpler terms, the Legion Band.
The band is off to Normandy to fly the flag in every sense of the word. It needs every penny it can get, so please try and help. Give Rick Bourne a call on 321108, or Richard Godfrey on 842108.
ARCHAEOLOGICAL weekend: This is happening all weekend at Basing House. It should be very interesting, as I hear that Pete Gentry is popping along on Friday evening to bury some items.
TALKING of Pete Gentry, not many people are aware of his prowess on the bowling green. In the last two weeks, he has played in two semi-finals at the Loddon Vale Bowling Club. Unfortunately he was beaten in the finals of both the triples and the fours.
APPEAL: Vanessa at Basingfield Court is on the scrounge. It is their summer fayre in July, and she is looking for anything that might be sold to bring in a lot of money for the residents.
Contact Vanessa on 321494.
