JUMBLE sale: The sale held on April 3 was a great success.
The village hall funds were swelled by more than £200. The profits from this and most other events go towards the ever-increasing cost of running the hall.
Thanks go to all who donated goods and time for the event.
BROOKVALE life: Linda, of Alexandra Road, has been a Brookvale resident for 23 years, having moved here with her husband, from Essex.
They work as civil servants in Basing View and enjoy the walk to work each day. In fact, Linda, who fights to overcome agoraphobia, puts her love of walking to financial use.
She has raised money for many charitable organisations, including the Children's Society and Wessex Cancer Trust.
Last year she went on the Moon Walk in aid of breast cancer research. This takes place in May and involves walking around 26 miles of London, starting at midnight.
Everyone has to wear decorated bras, including the men.
Unfortunately, Linda is unable to participate this year due to a very busy schedule, which is why we probably won't see her at the community association's AGM on May 25, at the village hall.
Please let me know what you enjoy about life in Brookvale.
DATE: A date for your diary. On May 8, 3Cs will be hosting a visit by Jen Smith, the Liberal Democrat candidate for Parliament, at the village hall.
Jen is looking forward to meeting residents of Brookvale.
