TRAPPED in a box with nothing, two men realise there's everything to play for in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival hit Pandora 88, coming to The Corn Exchange on Saturday, May 1.
Dedicated to former hostage Brian Keenan and the late, great movie director Stanley Kubrick, Pandora 88 has Wolfgang Hoffman and Sven Till (pictured) literally locked in a cell.
With no distractions and nothing to do - just themselves and a little bit of room - they become inspired by their limitations.
From their confined space they slip from slapstick comedy to touching tragedy, exploring the infinity of outer space by liberating their imaginations.
This celebration of the resilience and resourcefulness of the human spirit won an Edinburgh Fringe First, a Herald Angel and a Total Theatre Award last year.
Inspired by the four years that Brian Keenan spent as a hostage of Islamic Jihad in Lebanon and his subsequent friendship with John McCarthy, Pandora 88 draws both on the bleakness of their plight and the hope that has come from their ultimate release.
Based in Potsdam, Holland Companie Fabrik have toured throughout Europe and performed at the Edinburgh Festival for the last five years.
Their previous shows, Fallen and Hopeless Games, both won Fringe First awards and Pandora 88 received exceptional reviews from all the major national press.
