A FIRE ENGINE responding to what turned out to be a hoax call was involved in a traffic accident.
The vehicle was in collision with a Ford Fiesta at the junction of High Street and West Street, Ventnor, early on Saturday.
One person suffered minor injuries.
A spokesman for the IW Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the engine had been on its way to answer a call to a flat in Church Street and that the call was later found to have been made maliciously.
"This goes to show what can happen when people make malicious calls. It is an extremely foolish and dangerous thing to do," the spokesman said.
