Winchester sportscar specialist Steve Hyde has high hopes of a good season in the British GT Championship, despite a frustrating first round for the Eclipse TVR team at Donington.
Hyde and co-driver Piers Johnson qualified fourth for both races, but the wrong choice of tyres for the first event, followed by a retirement in the second, meant that all they had to show for their efforts was a ninth in class.
The grid for this season's GT Championship looks healthy. More than 30 cars competed at Donington, with a clutch of Porsches and Ferraris coming in from the FIA international series.
Defending champion Gary Catt took runners-up slot in the second round of the BTE Lawline/renault Super-One Karting Championship at the PF Circuit near Grantham.
Catt from Thruxton finished behind his teammate and series leader, Mark Litchfield.
Craig Duffin from Alton and Steve McCormick from Eastleigh grabbed podium places in the second of Eastleigh Moto X Club's meetings at Allington Lane.
Duffin was third in the solo A event and McCormick took third in the Solo B. Andy Breacher and Adam Hillyard from Eastleigh were victorious in sidecar race.
