HAMPSHIRE students raised their caps and gave the Duke of Edinburgh three cheers when he visited HMS Blazer while she was in Paris.
The Southampton University Royal Naval Unit vessel spent three days in the French capital as part of celebrations marking the 100th anniversary of the Entente Cordiale agreement between the two countries.
The duke, who himself had a successful Navy career, toured HMS Blazer and praised the students for the high standards they were maintaining.
Captain Lt Paul Butterworth said: "Some of the students also met the Queen. They loved it."
