IT WAS a generous touch that lit up the faces of children confined to a hospital ward this Easter holiday.
More then 400 Easter eggs were delivered to Southampton General Hospital by a colourful convoy of scooters belonging to members of the South Coast Cruisers scooter club.
Onlookers were stopped in their tracks when the 30-strong convoy made its way from St Denys, Southampton, through the city centre to its destination on Saturday.
No one missed out on an egg thanks to the appeal, made by scooter club members to celebrate the club's 10th anniversary year.
The club meets weekly at the St Denys Pub in Aberdeen Road, Southampton and has more than 40 members.
Club member Nikki Kelly, who organised the event, said: "It's a wonderful feeling to be able to bring some happiness to the children. The response to our appeal from local businesses has been huge. And the convoy itself really was quite a spectacle."
Play services manager at Southampton General Hospital Pamela Iles said: "It's just overwhelming, I've never seen so many eggs.
"The children are just thrilled when the eggs arrive. And it makes the parents really happy because someone is thinking of their child."
