SHAUN (Simon Pegg) is fast approaching his 30th birthday and can't escape the nagging thought that life is passing him by.

He shares a flat in London with his layabout best friend from junior school, Ed (Nick Frost), and his pernickety college buddy Pete (Peter Serafinowicz), who are constantly at each other's throats.

His girlfriend Liz (Kate Ashfield) is beginning to contemplate settling down, much to Shaun's horror, and the staff at the electrical goods store, where he is manager, mock his every word.

Just when it seems all hope is lost, Shaun is given a chance to prove his worth when a zombie holocaust sweeps across London, transforming all of Shaun's neighbours into the walking un-dead.

Keen to protect the people he loves, Shaun grabs Ed and heads for Liz's flat, which she shares with irritating know-it-all David (Dylan Moran) and dizzy wannabe actress Di (Lucy Davis).

The five survivors collect Shaun's mother, Barbara (Penelope Wilton) and her new man Philip (Bill Nighy), before heading to the local pub, The Winchester, which has always been their refuge in times of need.

However, the zombies have laid siege to the building. Can Shaun and his plucky posse evade capture by the denizens of the dead?

And more importantly, will Ed ever get his pint of lager and pork scratchings?

Shaun Of The Dead puts a highly entertaining comic spin on the zombie horror flick, inspired by an episode of Pegg's Channel 4 sitcom Spaced, in which his slacker hero became trapped in the Resident Evil 2 video game, fighting off hordes of the slavering un-dead.

There are cameos from Matt Lucas, Rob Brydon and Martin Freeman among others. Blink and you'll miss them.
