SILCHESTER Association: At the AGM last Friday, Anne-Marie Dalton was re-elected chairman, and Deborah Hall, secretary.
The chairman thanked the outgoing treasurer, Tony Stanley, and Howard Wilkinson was elected the new treasurer.
After a busy year there were many plans afoot for 2004, starting with the fun run on May 22, from 10am.
There is to be a barn dance in June after the fete and, of course, the fireworks display in November, which raises most of the finances for the remainder of the year.
After the business meeting, the group listened to Kate Payne, from AWE, who spoke about the history of the site, together with slides.
This was a most interesting and informative talk.
PALM Sunday: On a fine morning, led by Sophie the donkey, a cohort of Roman soldiers followed the Bishop of Winchester, and set off along the Drove.
Around 237 adults and children arrived at the amphitheatre, where a further group of non-walkers were assembled.
Tadley Concert Brass led the singing and there was a dramatic presentation of the Passion. Tea and coffee was served by the Scouts.
FUN run: The route will be walked and checked on Monday, starting at 10am from the Calleva Arms. Anyone is welcome to come along and join in.
OPEN garden: At the Old House, Bramley Road, Silchester, on Sunday, April 18, from 2pm to 6pm.
EASTER Services: Today, there will be All Age Worship at 10am, and an hour of meditation and music at 1pm.
On Easter Day we have a new service at 6am - a Sunrise Service - beginning outside the church, a short service at 8am and a family service at 10am.
