SPRING show: A total of 242 entries in the horticultural society's spring show was, according to Ted Dowson, "a record number, and the quality was very high too".
The cup winners for the highest number of points in the vegetable and flower classes were Pauline Parnell-Hopkinson and Margaret Cave.
The best exhibits winners were Shelagh Trown (daffodils), Gordon Cave (handicraft), Daria Hutchins (under six years) and Ruby Tibble (six to 12 years).
ROAD closure: So, whatever happened to the promised resurfacing in Green Lane?
The road closure order started on Monday, March 23. But we're still unaware when the work will actually start and how long it will take.
Oh well, something to look forward to, I suppose!
SPREADING the word: At the Ellisfield Parish Council meeting on Monday, it was decided to start sending copies of parish council minutes and newsletters to both Basingstoke and Hampshire councils.
These organisations distribute a plethora of information every month to parish councils and it'll make a change for them to get something back.
MOWING: The volunteer group wants to emphasise that the burial ground is just the area from the top of the slope to the wooden fence.
For anyone who was put off volunteering because they thought the group wanted the churchyard cut as well, fear not.
To "book a slot" (Lower Common also still needs volunteers), you should contact me on the number above.
