KINGS Toyota Garry Naylor goes into Sunday's final of The Reel Care Winter Series with a great chance of collecting the £1,000 first prize.
Throughout the winter, 60 of the area's top match anglers have fought tooth and nail and the top seven on points from each group of 20 anglers meet in Sunday's Final 21-peg final on the Match Lake at Broadlands.
Naylor, pictured above, has had a very consistent series and been in great form since last autumn. Given that he draws a reasonable peg, he will go close, especially in the bream show.
Competition is formidable, however, and Eastleigh Mosellas' Chalkie White, who scored more section points than anyone in the series, will also be in with a great chance. White is without doubt the top angler in the area on the waggler-dominated Lower Lake at Broadlands, but whether he is so good on the Match Lake is open to question.
Last year's first three in the final line up again and Homestores Sensas' Graham Tappenden, last year's winner, will be a short order to repeat his success.
In contrast, runner-up Steve Rochester hasn't been in the greatest of form in the last 12 months but is always dangerous, while last year's third-placed angler, Rick Kajko, never seems to draw a good peg in this type of final and is due a change of luck. Poingdestres' Pete Newman and Carbotech's Lee Woodhouse also warrant the greatest of respect, as does Bournemouth Lodge's prolific winner, Chris Albiston.
Other qualifiers: N Tappin, G Wright, B Drew, T Sargent, N Fox, J Turner, T Hiscock, B James, R Kajko, P Sears, S Hune, D Self, M Maidment and G Maton.
TVAC held a club match on Willow Lake, with match secretary Cliff Carbis running out a clear winner on 49lb, including 11lb of roach and skimmers and carp to 12lb 6oz on the pole, pellet and cat food. Maurice Townsend finished second with 32lb 11oz on the pole and maggot, with Rob Hendry third on 16lb 2oz and Dave Jones fourth on 10lb 6oz.
