Eastleigh Mayor Councillor Glynn Davies-Dear got into the dancing mood when he attended a special Sikh festival.
The borough's first citizen was invited to take to the floor for a traditional dance at the Festival of Vaisakhi, held at the Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service headquarters in Leigh Road.
He joined more than 100 people who were celebrating the Vaisakhi, which is the holiest day of the calendar for more 20 million Sikhs worldwide.
The festival commemorates the birth of the Sikh nation.
In 1699 Guru Gobind Singh created a sacred community call the Khalsa or the "pure ones".
The Eastleigh celebrations included dances performed by children and a talk on Vaisakhi by Daljit Grewal.
Traditional food was served to participants and the event was rounded off with Bhangra music and dancing.
