Andover grabbed a dramatic late goal to send them into the Hampshire Trophy Final.
With a reasonable mid-table finish in the league Andover secured their place in the final and will face either Southampton or Haslemere on May 3.
With the second XI also in a cup final Andover Hockey Club will hope to achieve some silverware this season.
The game started at a high tempo, but Andover controlled the early possession.
However, Portsmouth were resilient and shots were scarce, but as the teams settled down the game became more open.
Nichols forced a save out of the visiting keeper from a short corner, and West snapped up the rebound only for it to be cleared off the line by a defender.
