Why not get back to nature this Easter with some farmyard frolics?

WHEN we think of Easter, and spring in general, our thoughts often turn to animals - lambs, chicks and rabbits, to be precise.

This is because it's the time of year when we get back to nature. You can experience a bit of animal magic, with a few Easter traditions thrown in as well, at Miller's Ark.

The farm allows children and adults to come into close contact with farm animals, with an emphasis on touching and feeding, to build the children's confidence and awareness.

The welfare of the animals is paramount throughout and only those animals that are happy with a lot of attention are used.

Miller's Ark has all types of traditional and rare breeds, including African pygmy goats, Shetland ponies, miniature and standard donkeys, sheep, huge brahma chickens, and giant rabbits and guinea pigs.

There are also pet lambs, pet goat kids, ducks and geese in their own pond, tiny bantam hens, Maori kune kune piglets, Irish moiled or belted Galloway calves, and a farm dog.

Why not try being a "Farmer for a Day" from Tuesday, April 13, to Thursday, April 15? From 11am until 4pm, your child can join in everything on the farm, from collecting the eggs to feeding and grooming the animals. It's great fun for children of all ages at £30 each.

Alternatively, you could visit for a Farm Open Day. On Friday, April 16, the open day will include an Easter egg hunt and, on Saturday, April 17, you can also see sheep-shearing. The open days are from 2pm until 5pm and prices are £3 for adults and £2 for children.

Miller's Ark is at Roke Farm, Hillside, near Odiham, Hampshire, and is sign-posted clearly from the A287 Farnham-to-Odiham Road.
