POLICE have now named the teenage driver who died when a coach carrying 39 Hampshire schoolchildren ploughed over her car.
Vicky Waters, 18, from the Swanmore area died at the scene of the horrific smash on the notorious A32 near Wickham on Friday.
She was driving a white Ford Fiesta with two close friends. Christina Corp, 17, also from the Swanmore area, remains in a critical condition in Southampton General Hospital's Neurology Department. The other passenger, Kimberley Hood, 17, from the Bishop's Waltham area was released from hospital on Saturday.
Police say Miss Waters' family are devastated by her death and are finding it hard to come to terms with it.
The Altonian coach company vehicle that struck her car was carrying pupils aged 11 and 12 from Wootey Junior School in Alton back from a week at the Stubbington Study Centre.
Detectives have now revealed that they may have to interview all of the distraught youngsters to piece together how the tragedy happened.
Sergeant Susan Heath of Fareham traffic police said: "I can't expand on whether we will have to talk to them, but anybody who may have been a witness we will of course consider interviewing.
"I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the accident or saw either vehicle beforehand to come forward."
None of the schoolchildren were injured in the crash but an incident officer from Hampshire Ambulance spoke to them all and their parents afterwards to help them come to terms with the traumatic experience.
Sgt Heath confirmed that the coach driver, who was left badly shaken, will be interviewed as will three teachers who were travelling on the coach.
Police vehicle experts are now examining the single -decker and the wrecked Fiesta to find out if a mechanical defect played any part in the crash.
Urgent action is being called for to make the notorious A32 road safer, following the latest of a long line of tragedies.
Traffic police have identified the road as an accident blackspot and now Winchester City Councillor Therese Evans, who represents Wickham, is calling for better signposts at junctions and for drivers to give more "consideration" to the speed limit. She said: "The highways authority have put in fluorescent poles at the junction but perhaps we need to look at more signposts."
In December a 31-year-old biker from Fareham died when his motorbike struck a car on the A32. Last July a 21-year-old naval apprentice was fatally injured when his motorbike came off the same road.
Anyone who witnessed the crash can call Fareham traffic police on 0845 045 45 45.
