AFTER three months of matches, the Totally Tennis Mini Tennis Masters reached its final stage, with finalists stepping out on to court to battle for the various championships.

After winning the Red mini tennis final as recently as January, Matthew Pawley repeated the process when he moved up to contest the Orange mini tennis final. Daniel Hutton was second.

In the Green mini tennis competition, Rachel Whiteside was determined to clinch the title after narrowly missing out earlier in the year. This time she was the winner, with Chris Murray the runner-up.

The older juniors then had their chance to become the best player in the Team, A, B and C squads in the Totally Tennis Challenge finals.

Players were not only keen to claim the prestigious top spot in their squad but also to earn promotion to the next squad up.

The battle for the B squad and C squad titles turned out to be a battle of the sexes. Stephanie Catlin earned her promotion to A squad after beating Jonathon Dow in the B squad final.

Matthew Ennals pipped Caroline Ranson in the C squad event.

The A squad final was contested by Ben Jubin and James Stewart with Jubin proving too tough for Stewart and claiming the top spot and a well-earned promotion.

Finally, the Team squad competition was clinched by Chris Munt, after he overcame Matthew Heath-Smith in the final.

Totally Tennis' Adam Chadwick, who organised the event, said: "The mini tennis finals were an excellent demonstration of quality tennis from young players and pushed the older players to show what they were really made of in the ABC Challenge.

"The determination of the finalists helped carry them a long way and the incentive of promotion to the next squad, as well as other goodies, was the icing on the cake."
