Downton moved off the bottom of the table on goal difference after a late winner against BAT - their first win in two months.
Striker Matt Guy came out on top in an 87th minute one-on-one with the Tobaccomen's keeper to send Whitchurch into the relegation zone.
Boss Mitch Blake said: "It's a three horse race at the bottom between ourselves, Whitchurch and Blackfield and Langley and it will have been a successful season for us if we don't finish bottom.
"We were very workmanlike but hit the woodwork and missed another good chance so probably shaded it - and our keeper John Burton kept us in the game with a reaction save from point blank range."
