Guildford Flames 8, Basingstoke Bison 7 (after penalty shots)

GUILDFORD Flames' young star Michael Timms scored the final penalty shot to give his side victory in a challenge match on Wednesday night after the game had ended 7-7.

The Bison added Swindon trio Frank DeMasi, Michael Hargreaves (right) and Shane Moore to their line-up, and Moore picked up the man-of-the-match award in this game.

The Wella Bison won the first period 2-0, as their young star Shaun Thompson and Dave Geris both scored.

The middle session was won by the home side 6-2, as man-of-the-match Andrew Hemmings and Milos Melicherik scored twice, with Tony Redmond and Nick Cross getting one each.

For the visitors, DeMasi and Christian Widauer scored.

The final session saw the Bison back on top, winning it 3-1 as Martin Filip, Jaromir Kverka and Steve Moria all netted, with Ryan Vince getting the Flames' lone reply.

Basingstoke Bison 9, Guildford Flames 4

The home side won the first period 2-1, on Tuesday night, thanks to Kverka and Doug Schueller, with Redmond replying for the Flames.

The second session saw Bison man-of-the-match DeMasi, and Geris increased the lead to 4-1.

Back came the Flames as their man-of-the-match Timms and Chris Wiggins netted in the space of 63 seconds.

Joe Ciccarello scored 19 seconds later, before Timms netted his second at 35:20.

It was left to Thompson and Hurley to move the score on to 7-4.

Kverka scored the goal of the game with a nice breakaway at 50:27 and Christian Widauer wrapped up the scoring.
