A CYBER cafe at Hamble Community Sports College is a step closer to becoming a reality.
About £155,000 of a Hampshire County Council grant will be spent on the project, with contributions from various other bodies.
The Youth Service-run project will be open during the day and evening to provide facilities for pupils and other young people in the community.
The development will be built close to the main entrance of the school, which currently has 992 pupils on its roll.
The cyber cafe will contain computers and a coffee bar and the rest of the building will also house two workrooms, an office, associated stores and toilets.
Part of the money will also be spent on refurbishing one of the school's buildings to provide a multi-materials workshop, two technology rooms and two language classrooms.
The plans should be given the final endorsement by Hampshire County Council chiefs when they come before the Policy and Resources Committee on February 19.
