AN all-new comedy inspired by legendary cult movie The Wicker Man comes to Aldershot's West End Centre on Thursday, February 12, when Population 3 Theatre Company performs The Wicker Woman at 8pm.

The plot revolves around a young couple's quiet weekend break to a remote island, which is cut short by locals bent on recreating the May day rites and rituals of pagan times.

There has been no wind on the island for months and, after watching The Wicker Man on TV, the islanders decide to seek a stranger to burn as a sacrifice to the God of wind, in the hope of getting the wind back.

The play features a cast of three, who play eight different characters. It features Lucy Montgomery, who appeared on Bo Selecta, Barunka O'Shaughnessy, who has appeared in the Channel 4 sitcom Spaced, and James Bachman, whose many writing credits include Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway.

He can be heard on Radio 4's That Mitchell and Webb Sound. The team is also currently devising its own TV series.

Tickets, priced at £7.50, with £6.50 concessions available, can be purchased from the box office on 01252 330040.
