MOTORISTS are curbing their speed outside one Hampshire school, thanks to a hard-hitting poster designed by five-year-old Vincent Attard.
The Bursledon Infant School pupil won a competition to have his picture, featuring a big "slow down" hand, pinned up on lampposts in Long Lane.
The idea is to create a go-slow safety zone with pedestrian crossings and pinch points as part of the school's new travel plan.
Pupils are also being encouraged to walk or cycle to the school to reduce pollution and cut the queues of vehicles clogging the roads.
Councillor David Airey, who is responsible for transport in Eastleigh borough, said: "Encouraging more people to walk to school will benefit health and the environment."
Eastleigh claims to be Hampshire's leading authority when it comes to drawing up travel plans, with about 25 schools currently involved in producing one.
