MULTI-TALENTED musical marvel Laurie Holloway is set to captivate the International Jazz Night audience at the Concorde Club on Wednesday, February 4.
Laurie, who first tickled the ivories at the tender age of four, is today musical director for the Michael Parkinson television series.
By the age of 13, his musical mastery was already in evidence and he became organist and choir master at his local church.
Turning professional at 16 was simply the next step on his road to developing and maturing into the exceptional musical director, composer and performer who today holds among his credits the Gold Badge of Merit, awarded by the British Academy of Composers and Songwriters.
Laurie has written, played alongside and directed some of the world's finest singers and instrumentalists in a truly distinguished career.
Recognised for his leadership and immaculate, sensitive playing, his talents as a composer and orchestrator match his skills as an accomplished pianist.
He has worked with some of the greats of our time - Judy Garland, Liza Minnelli, Engelbert Humperdinck, Gilbert O'Sullivan and Dame Cleo Laine to name but a few.
Dame Cleo first worked with Laurie in the '60s. That collaboration has continued off and on, to the present day, both in the recording studio and at concerts, cabaret and jazz club appearances.
She said of him: "Laurie can and does wear many hats for many people, successfully combining them all in an amazing musical career."
His long association with the late Stephane Grappelli clocked up 39 radio broadcasts, albums and public performances.
More recently, Laurie (pictured) has written, played and been musical director for the likes of Lesley Garrett, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Marion Montgomery and Elaine Paige, with whom he also appeared as musical director of Piaf in the West End.
The renowned pianist and musical director will be appearing as part of a trio at the Eastleigh club and is joined by two equally-talented musicians - bassist Dave Olney and drummer Harold Fisher.
Laurie Holloway Trio, on February 4, is open to club members and non-members alike. Tickets for members are £10 and £12 for guests.
