THE next Gazette-sponsored Family Funday concert will take place on Sunday, February 1 at 3pm in Central Studio, Basingstoke.
Fiona Moore and Elizabeth Jane Baldry will take you on a magical, musical journey.
Fiona is a story-teller, singer and community musician who tells traditional stories to audiences of all ages in schools, libraries, museums, art centres, day centres for elders or adults recovering from mental illness, hospitals and National Trust properties.
She also performs as a duo with harpist Elizabeth Jane, and it is in this capacity through which she will be appearing at Central Studio.
Fiona runs acapella singing workshops for people who love to sing but think they can't. She has set up a community choir in Southampton called Delicious Sounds where all the material is taught by ear so participants do not have to be able to read music.
Their repertoire varies from South African chants to Bulgarian folksongs, gospel to doowap, and medieval music to improvisations about the moon.
In the duo The Story and the Harp (pictured), Fiona tells traditional stories while Elizabeth Jane colours the tales with magical harp improvisations.
They have played in romantic settings such as the candlelit ballroom in Saltram House (as seen in the film Sense and Sensibility) and the ancient seaside church in the tiny fishing village of Mylor in Cornwall.
In addition, they have celebrated Midsummer Magic at Market Lavington Church, warning about the fairies, and have played to audiences of 2,000 at an orchestral performance of The Snowman.
Don't forget you will also have the chance to win money for you and your school at this Basingstoke Concert Club event.
Doors open for free coffee and ice cream half an hour before the hour-long performance.
Tickets are available from the Haymarket box office on 01256 465566 or at the door on the afternoon.
