Sir.-Thank you Mrs Fitzgerald for putting forward the views of many in support of the Pack Lane humps.
Cllr Hussey is correct in sticking to his guns and retaining them. There is no doubt they have cut down the speed of the traffic and deterring people from using Pack Lane as a "rat-run".
If people drive their cars correctly, and within the 30mph speed limit, there is no reason why the humps should inconvenience them at all.
The only car which does have a justified problem is a three-wheeler, but there are not many "Delboys" driving around now!
So please, Cllr Hussey, keep our humps. The residents along Pack Lane are right behind you.

Sir.-Maybe in years to come "the humps" will be known as "killer".
Has anyone followed a car the full length of Pack Lane doing 20mph? This leads to frustration and the eagerness to overtake, which could lead to a fatality.
During the hours of darkness cars use dipped headlights. On hitting the humps, a dipped beam turns into a full beam which, for a second, blinds drivers of oncoming cars.
I have been told of an elderly lady with osteoporosis who has to pack her seat with cushions and still suffers due to the jolting.
It's all very well councillors dreaming up money-wasting schemes, but I bet they would change their tune if they lived in Pack Lane and the emergency services arrived too late to do any good.
