Playing a stonking style of jazz, blues and rock'n'roll, six superb musicians and visual entertainers dispelled any lingering post-Christmas doldrums in a sold-out-weeks-ago show.
King Pleasure, aka "Scratch", with growling vocals and mesmeric stage presence, roars the Biscuit Boys through a musical melange of blistering solos and tight arrangements.
With excellent drummer Dangerous Dave playing the double-bass simultaneously with comedic bass player Shark Van Shtoop, and Crab-claw Tromans displaying an astonishingly percussive piano technique, Big John swoops and soars on alto and tenor sax through jazz standards Tequila and Barracuda. From the rocking Shake, Rattle and Roll to the catchy and unusual Ghost Riders in the Sky, this engaging band engender a feel-good, foot-tapping joie de vivre.
What a band! What a venue!
