Southampton Saints are three points clear at the top of the FA Women's Premier League Southern Division after yesterday's 3-1 home win over Enfield.
The result was all the more satisfying because title rivals Bristol City were held 1-1 at Ipswich Town - albeit that the former leaders have two games in hand.
Saints went ahead with an early Sophie Kingley-Smith header and another aerial raider, Holly Anderson, made it 2-0 in the second half. Enfield pulled a goal back, but 15-year-old Kelly Baker beat the advancing keeper to a long through ball to make it 3-1.
