AFC Totton almost tripped up another of the Sydenhams Wessex League championship chasers at Testwood Park on Saturday.

After inflicting only the second defeat of the campaign on third-placed Gosport in midweek, Barry Blankley's side came from behind to lead table-topping Wimborne Town before the Magpies grabbed a late equaliser.

Blankley said: "Having taken four points out of six from two of the top three sides this week, we now need to produce this level of performance every week.

"I'm really pleased. We battled really hard, our work rate was superb and we made it difficult for them and managed to stifle their game."

Darren Powell's 22-yard free-kick put Wimborne in front after quarter of an hour but Totton hit back after 32 minutes through Stuart Ritchie's quick free-kick.

Another Ritchie free-kick was headed down by Matty Parnell and Dave Egerton lashed the ball home to put Totton ahead on 70 minutes before Gareth Barnes headed an 80th minute equaliser.

After only picking up one point from their last two outings, Gosport Borough returned to winning ways with a 1-0 home victory against Thatcham Town.

Gosport keeper Mark Brown saved a penalty before Boro's Vase hero Fraser Quirke headed home Stuart Hensman's cross from six yards after 65 minutes.

Boro assistant manager Gary Lee said: "Thatcham made it very difficult for us but I thought we deserved the victory in the end.

"Confidence is sky high for tomorrow night's big game at Winchester City."

Free-scoring Winchester City limbered up for that clash with a 5-1 slaying of Fareham Town - Ian Man-cey bagging a hat-trick as the City slickers hoisted this season's league goal tally to 103.

Mancey took just 85 seconds to open the scoring from Andy Forbes' cross and just another five minutes to make it 2-0 when he latched on to a Liam Green through ball to beat the Town keeper in a one-on-one.

Floyd Hamoudu reduced the arrears on 20 minutes with a header from Wes Chalmers' centre but Forbes soon make it 3-1 after defender Darren Watts and keeper Lee Webber got in a tangle.

A bullet-like Toby Red-wood header from Shaun Dyke's flag-kick saw City go 4-1 up on 39 minutes with Mancey completing his hat-trick ten minutes from time.

Eighteen-year-old striker James Keane, currently on loan from Portsmouth, scored a hat-trick on only his second appearance for AFC Newbury as they pummelled Portland United 4-1 at Faraday Road.

Daniel Mattingley added a fourth from the penalty spot after Andy Wilmot had been brought down, Dave Laws replying for the Dorset club.

Lymington & New Milton, who triumphed 1-0 at Newbury on Tuesday eveing, made it two wins in a week with a 3-0 success against Bemerton Heath Harlequins at Fawcetts Field.

Linnets boss Ian Robinson said: "It was a good victory for us and the two wins starts off a little run for us.

"We now need to push on from here."

Patrick James cut down the left to beat the keeper from the narrowest of angles to give the home side a 19th- minute lead and he had another chalked out for offside.

Substitute Ben Thomson doubled their advantage after 50 minutes with a firm shot across the keeper and Kevin Reacord fired through a ruck of players for their third goal after 65 minutes.
