THERE'S a terrifying treat in store for theatregoers next month, with a visit by classic stage spine-chiller The Woman in Black.
The long-running show, based on Susan Hill's book of the same name, comes to Poole Lighthouse from February 2.
The nerve-shredding drama tells the story of a lawyer obsessed with a curse he believes has been cast over him and his family by the spectre of a woman in black.
A hit at Poole in April 2001, The Woman in Black combines the power and intensity of live theatre with a highly visual feel reminiscent of film noir cinema.
Ghostly, dark and full of eerie sound effects, the edge-of-your-seat play was ingeniously adapted by successful playwright Stephen Mallatratt from Hill's novel.
Now embarked on its seventh national tour, the show has been playing in the West End for the past 15 years and has so far been seen by more than two million theatregoers.
The play stars Paul Webster as Arthur Kipps, the lawyer, and Damien Matthews as the young actor he engages to help him tell his story and exorcise the fear that grips his soul.
You can see The Woman in Black at Poole Lighthouse from Monday, February 2 to Saturday, February 7.
Tickets cost from £9.50. For more information call the box office on 01202 685222.
