THERE'S sure to be a commotion at the Wedgewood Rooms this weekend.
Lloyd Cole is performing at the venue on Sunday, when he will be performing material spanning his entire 20-year career, from his time with the Commotions and the Negatives through to highlights from his latest critically acclaimed album Music in a Foreign Language.
Over the years, Lloyd has clocked up such hits as Perfect Skin, Brand New Friend, From the Hip and Like Lovers Do.
His first album with the Comotions, Rattlesnakes, won him a place in the NME Top 100 albums of all time, coming out ahead of the Beach Boys.
Highlights of this album, now two decades old, still form a central part of his live acoustic shows.Lloyd's most recent album, Music in a Foreign Language, reveals a more folky side to his sound and was recorded straight into a Mac computer.
As well as his own songs the album also features a cover version of Nick Cave's People Ain't No Good, which fans may be lucky enough to hear in Portsmouth this weekend.
