REOPENING: After the fire at Hook Community Centre last year, repair work is almost complete and the building was due to be open again on Sunday.
To mark this, the centre will be holding a publicity afternoon on Saturday, January 31. If you have ever wondered just what goes on at the community centre, this is a great chance to find out.
Representatives from local groups who use the centre will be there to explain what they do and entice you to take part. The event runs from 2pm until 4pm and will be followed by the community association AGM at 4.15pm.
POLICE station: The temporary loo has now arrived, so that's a sure sign that work is about to start at the police house.
The existing building will be demolished and replaced with a purpose-built police station for Hook and the nearby villages.
The layout includes community facilities and a holding cell.
LINE dancing classes are restarting at the community centre on Tuesday.
These are beginner/ improver classes and run from 9.45am until 10.45am. Entrance is £3.50.
For more information, ring Michelle on 762638.
HISTORY group: It is a little-known fact that Jane Seymour, the third wife of Henry VIII, lived at Elvetham Hall, near Hartley Wintney.
Hook Local History Group will be hearing her story on Monday, January 19, as part of a talk entitled "The Seymours of Elvetham" by Edna Millington. The talk starts at 8pm at St John's Church. Entrance is £1.50.
