RAPID Response warden: The parish council met last Monday, and members were formally introduced to the newly-appointed Rapid Response warden, Brian Beckley.

It is hoped as a result of his appointment, litter, graffiti, vandalism and just wear and tear in Chineham can be addressed more quickly, either by Brian himself or through prompt reporting to Basingstoke council.

PETTY'S Brook: There is still a lack of progress on the clearance of vegetation in Petty's Brook.

Thornhill Way: While the start on the Thornhill Way crossing by the village hall has been delayed from the beginning of the week, we are assured that this is due to the availability of the contractors and is neither a rethink nor a substantive delay.

FOUR Lanes Infant School is about to be inspected by Ofsted, with the formal inspectors' visit taking place at the start of March.

PC ASHMAN has been temporarily promoted to acting sergeant and, although he has promised to continue to visit Chineham occasionally, his main responsibilities will lie elsewhere.

In the meantime, Pc Claire Oliver (wife of previous beat bobby Andy Oliver), will be taking over.

THE Crime Prevention and Neighbourhood Watch UV-marking event, held at the Chineham Village Hall, was a fair success. As a result, it is likely that similar events will take place in the future.
