Sophie Kingsley-Smith got Southampton Saints out of a spot of bother in yesterday's 2-2 home draw against Ipswich which took them top of the FA Women's Premier League Southern Division.
The classy central defender capped an outstanding display by netting a beautifully-struck free-kick after two Ipswich goals inside three minutes had turned the game on its head.
Fifteen-year-old strike sensation Kelly Baker had put Saints one up from Charlotte Young's pass.
But Ipswich hit back with quickfire goals in the 71st and 73rd minutes before Kingsley-Smith struck with a quarter of an hour to go.
The draw puts Saints a point clear of Bristol City at top having played two games more than their west country rivals.
Saints are desperate to claim the one promotion place after relegation last season and manager Sue Lopez said: "We've had our share of bad luck and I can't believe that Bristol won't get theirs."
