YOUNGSTERS from Southampton who have volunteered to become junior neighbourhood wardens are due to be presented with their own uniforms at a special ceremony in Millbrook tomorrow.
The scheme was launched by the city council in October and is designed to tackle antisocial behaviour and develop a sense of community pride among young people.
The scheme has proved to be an overwhelming success and many schoolchildren have volunteered to become wardens.
Youngsters work alongside adult wardens and take part in a range of activities.
Everyone attending tomorrow's event will receive a certificate and the children who have attended all of the activities to date will be presented with a junior neighbourhood warden sweatshirt designed by Sophie Oak from Mansel Junior School.
Further additions to the uniform will be presented to the
junior wardens as they attend more events.
As well as the uniforms, junior wardens can collect rewards such as cinema tickets.
