SOMEONE with a fear of heights wouldn't normally be the ideal candidate to undertake a parachute jump.
But Smannell resident Andy Blizzard is determined to overcome his fear and shed a stone and a half before taking the plunge to raise funds for Smannell and Enham Primary School and the Enham Enabling Partnership.
He said: "I'm petrified of heights, but I have to get over that.
"I'm 47 and have reached a stage in my life where it's something I have to do."
Garage owner Andy was first approached by the village school's headteacher, Keven Lynch, to complete the parachute jump in April.
And in order to be eligible for it, Andy has to cut down on his sugar intake so he weighs 15 stone and can complete the jump at over 10,000 feet above Cambridge. "I'm going to give up all the stuff that's bad for me.
"As for the height thing I'm just not going to think about it," he said.
