POINGDESTRES' Pete Newman came out on top on a high scoring match on the Broadlands Match Lake.
Anglers needed 39lb even to make the frame but Newman fished corn and pellet to take 20 carp to the scales to 6lb for a total of 77lb 12 oz from peg 16.
That was despite a blank last one and half hours when a carp angler fishing behind Newman banged bivvy pegs into the ground and frightened Newman's fish away.
Teammate Clive Egerton finished second with 17 carp for 68 from peg 20 on the pole and corn with Cormorants Team Sillybaits' Graham Maton third with 62lb 8oz of carp from peg 32. Garry Wright finished fourth with 53lb 6oz of carp from peg 22.
