A FUND set up in memory of murdered Southampton student Hannah Foster has already raised £3,250 in her memory.

The cash will eventually be donated to a voluntary doctor service, which provides emergency medical treatment at the scenes of road crashes.

Today Hannah's parents paid tribute to the dozens of friends, family members and well-wishers who have made donations since the fund was set up in April last year.

In a statement issued to the Daily Echo, Trevor and Hilary Foster said: "We thank everybody for their help, support and generosity."

The couple said the account remained open and any further donations would be gratefully received.

All the cash collected will be passed to the British Association for Immediate Care (BASICS) Hampshire to improve the level of care provided to victims of road accidents across Hampshire.

The medical charity was chosen by Mr and Mrs Foster as 17-year-old Hannah had dreamed of becoming a doctor to help save lives.

Although still studying for A-levels at Barton Peveril College, Eastleigh, she had secured offers to read medicine at two universities.

BASICS organisers in Hampshire hope to use the fund to help purchase an emergency vehicle carrying specialist resuscitation and monitoring equipment.

Hannah, who lived with her family in Portswood, was abducted, raped and strangled as she walked home from a night out with friends on Friday, March 14.

Police inquiries are continuing both in the UK and India to track down the prime suspect, 35-year-old Maninder Pal Singh Kohli, who caught a flight to Delhi two days after the teenager's body was found in Allington Lane, West End.

The father-of-two, formerly of Broadlands Road, Swaythling, is believed to be in hiding in the Punjab region. A reward of 5,000,000 rupees - the equivalent of £70,000 - is being offered for information leading to his arrest.

Donations to the Hannah Foster Fund can be made at any branch of Lloyds TSB bank, quoting sort code 30 90 34 and account number 2080771.
