A MAJOR cycleway, which would link four schools between Eastleigh North and Chandler's Ford could be on track within the next few months.
Eastleigh Borough Council planners have already identified a need for a cycle route for the area, which would take in Toynbee School, Fryern School, Crestwood School and St Swithun Wells School. There is also a need for a cycle/pedestrian refuge in Oakmount Road.
Councillors will be asked on Wednesday night to give the go- ahead for the Woodside Avenue to Oakmount Road Cycle Route, likely to cost about £110,000.
If it gets the green light there would be consultations with residents living near the proposed cycle route as well as schools and cycle user groups.
The work is subject to approval from Hampshire County Council and is expected to take between eight to ten weeks to build.
