A multi-million-pound plan to transform Sandown Bay into a tourists' paradise has been launched.
The long awaited Sandown Bay Regeneration Strategy includes schemes such as a water park or aquadome, A new centre for extreme sports, a living museum, multiplex cinema, new road and car park and upmarket hotels and pubs.
The blueprint has been drawn up by consultants Arup with Pan Leisure Consultants Limited and Matrix Partnership following meetings locally and incorporates suggestions and ideas from local people and visitors.
Obtaining funding for such ambitious schemes will be of paramount importance, although the report suggests that the Isle of Wight Council - a major landowner in the area - could cover some of its costs from selling land for development as part of the strategy.
The document is expected to be endorsed by the Isle of Wight Council's executive on Wednesday.
Members are expected to call for a further report in April on how the strategy could be implemented and what it will cost the Island council.
