CHRISTMAS may have come and gone but, with a little goodwill, audiences will love the latest seasonal offering at theatre Royal Winchester.
The Holly and the Ivy, playing at the theatre from Tuesday, January 20, is a tale of family strife set in a Norfolk vicarage on Christmas Eve.
Peace and goodwill radiate from the warm-hearted, elderly vicar, who is cared for by his daughter. But with the arrival of two irritable aunts and a wayward daughter, the atmosphere turns sour.
As skeletons tumble from closets and stones are turned over, the stress even begins to tell on the vicar himself.
Made into a memorable film in 1952 starring Ralph Richardson, this stage revival stars familiar TV faces Tony Britton and Joy Brook.
You can see The Holly and the Ivy in Winchester from January 20-24.
Tickets cost from £10. Box office: 01962 840440.
