Southampton Saints bounced back from their FA Cup disappointment to inflict a 4-1 defeat on lowly Merthyr Tydfil in the FA Women's Premier League Southern Division yesterday.
It was a memorable day for 16-year-old Centre of Excellence graduate Nicki Watts who went on as a half-time substitute and scored just two minutes into her senior debut.
Gemma Woodford had put Saints ahead with a sixth-minute free-kick and teenage frontrunner Kelly Baker wrapped up victory in the 49th and 88th minutes.
Saints now join leaders Bristol City on 37 points, but the Robins have a game in hand.
Defender Holly Anderson captained the side for the first time and is off for trials with the Scotland senior squad tomorrow.
