INTERNATIONAL pop star Craig David has been dropped by Radio One - but his management say they are not worried.

Southampton's number one singing sensation is no longer flava of the month at Britain's biggest radio station, who refused to let their DJs play his latest single You Don't Miss Your Water (Til the Well Runs Dry).

The hugely successful singer's latest single, which was released on December 29, only reached number 43 in the singles chart last Sunday after Radio One refused to play it.

The single has been played on other radio stations, including Radio Two, but has been left off all the Radio One playlists, meaning that many of the station's 11.8 million weekly listeners did not even know that it had been released.

The single was the sixth to be released off Craig's platinum-selling album Slicker than Your Average, which has already spawned six top ten hits, including Rise and Fall which reached number two last spring. But his management say that they are not worried about the station not playing it or the position that it reached, adding that the single is currently at number 23 in the airplay charts.

When asked why Craig, who recently completed an incredibly successful world tour, which included a free date at The Rose Bowl near Southampton, has been ditched by Radio One, a spokesman for the station said:

"It's not unusual for a big artist to be left off the playlist - we judge whether or not a song is going to be played on a record-by-record basis. Everything is judged on its merits and there are a limited number of places on the A, B and C lists."

He added: "There's no reason to think that the next single won't be played but we don't comment on specific songs."

Craig is currently back in the studio writing and recording material for his new album and his management say that they are very excited about it.
