A TOTAL of 101 Ford GTs will now officially be imported to Europe - but customer demand is far outstripping supply, with 2,150 people committing to purchase.
The supply number is the same as the amount of Ford GTs sold in Europe in the entire lifetime of the first model.
Customers wanting to register their interest in purchasing a new Ford GT in Europe have been able to do so via a dedicated website and, to date, 2,150 customers have registered online or approached Ford directly.
This is a reflection of the massive interest the car has gener-ated among enthusiasts in the UK and Europe as a whole.
The website closed on November 21 and registered customers are now being sent application forms to take the next step towards purchase. But only a few registered to buy will be lucky enough to do so.
They will be identified via carefully considered criteria, intended to match the most deserving and appropriate buyers with this iconic car.
The final selection will be approved by the president of Ford Europe, Lewis Booth, and his most senior executives.
Individually-approved dealers will also act as the official import agents for the Ford GT in three European countries.
UK and European prices of the left-hand-drive, 500bhp Ford GT will be announced closer to its official import later this year.
In the US, a price of under $150,000 has been indicated, but a premium is expected to be added in Europe.
