MATTHEW Warner has returned to Wycombe Wanderers to try to impress new boss Tony Adams into awarding him a professional contract at the Nationwide division two club.

The 19-year-old left-sided player is on a YTS at Wycombe but, after he wasn't featuring in Wycombe's ex-boss Lawrie Sanchez's plans, joined Town in the autumn on work experience and to play first team football.

Since arriving in October as one of Ernie Howe's promised new faces in the aftermath of the Camrose club's FA Cup exit at Bracknell, Warner played 10 games for Town, scoring once, against Hayes.

He has since returned to Wycombe to try to show ex-Arsenal legend Adams he has what it takes to be a professional.

Town boss Howe said: "As a YTS player the agreement was that he remains registered with us, and can play for both clubs.

"It was David Ray who first told me Matthew had gone back to Wycombe.

"I know that his reason for doing so was because he is in his last year as a scholar and coming to the end of his training period.

"He felt he was being overlooked by being here with us. So he decided to go back and push for a professional contract, and good luck to him.

"He's still registered with us though, so if push came to shove we could get him back and use him.

"The door remains open if he feels the need to return."
