A RANGER who would round up litter and keep the streets spick and span could soon be roaming the wide open spaces of a Bursledon estate.
Eastleigh Council executive will tonight be asked to give the go-ahead for a ranger to work in the Pilands Wood and Cunningham Gardens area.
In a report councillors will be told that litter drifts from one area to another and grass-cutting takes place at different times - creating an untidy impression for visitors and residents.
Now, in a bid to tidy up the situation, councillors are being urged to appoint a ranger who would work for 28 hours a week.
The ranger's duties would include cutting grass for small areas, street-sweeping, litter-picking and emptying litter bins, hedge-trimming, maintaining shrub beds and borders, clearing pavements, and inspecting play areas and path edging.
