TWO 'temporary' classrooms at a New Forest school are going to be replaced - after 34 years.
Hampshire County Council has approved plans to provide Fordingbridge Infant School with a £560,000 extension housing two classrooms, a library, a computer suite and a music room.
Work is due to start next month, which means the new building will be ready for the start of the new school year in September.
Head teacher Angela Rice said it was the biggest improvement project at the school since the current buildings were opened in the 1960s.
She added: "We're all very excited about the scheme.
"The extension will replace two temporary classrooms that have been here for 34 years and means all the children will be taught under one roof.
"Our new classrooms will be 64 square metres - as big as the existing ones in the main building.
"The school will also be provided with a proper library, replacing the very small facility that's there at the moment, and we will also acquire a computer suite and a music room.
"This is a major project that will make a big difference to the school."
