THE New Gateway Jazz Band is ushering in the new year with a new album - and it's a case of business as usual for the Hampshire-based Dixieland specialists.
Recorded live at Eastleigh's Concorde Club, Rhythm Is Our Business is the second CD to be released by the enterprising band, pictured, since its re-launch in 1999.
The disc features 71 minutes of traditional and Dixieland jazz performed by band leader Keith Samuel on trombone, with Bill Harvey on cornet and vocals, Roy Sear on clarinet and alto sax, Maurice Dennis on banjo and guitar, Allan Sokell on sousaphone and John Hall on drums.
The band have dedicated the album to the fans who have helped make them popular headliners at jazz venues all over the south. The band regularly perform at venues such as the Concorde Club and Gosport Jazz Club. Festival appearances booked for 2004 include Pakefield (March 7) and Bembridge (June 18).
Rhythm Is Our Business features music by the likes of Louis Armstrong, Fats Waller and Bix Beiderbecke.
