BIRDS of a feather will be flocking together at The Mayflower theatre later this year.
Lesley Joseph and Linda Robson, from the hit TV show Birds of a Feather, will be joined by television personality Anneka Rice when the smash-hit show The Vagina Monologues comes to the Southampton theatre in March.
The show has been a sell-out success in the West End and throughout the world.
Billed as the ultimate girls' night out, it has also been a massive hit with male audience-members.
Some of the most famous women in the world have already appeared in the show, including Kate Winslet, Glenn Close, Whoopi Goldberg, Ruby Wax, Jerry Hall and Calista Flockhart.
Sex has never been funnier or more poignant than in the collection of highly original stories shared in the show, which were gathered by The Vagina Monologues' creator, New Yorker Eve Ensler.
Ensler asked over 200 women of all ages, ethnic backgrounds and walks of life to share their most intimate secrets on such often-taboo subjects as birth, sex, orgasms and relationships, with surprising results.
The show has been critically lauded and nominated for several awards, including the 2002 Olivier Award for Best Entertainment. It is a global phenomenon, with multiple productions in over 25 countries worldwide and long runs in New York, London and Paris.
At every performance of The Vagina Monologues, a portion of the proceeds from ticket sales is donated to the V-day Fund, an organisation which provides charitable aid to women and girls who have been the victims of abuse and violence.
Since May 2001, the current production of The Vagina Monologues has donated over £130,000 to such charities. Audiences are warned that the show contains strong language and sexual references.
The Vagina Monologues will be at The Mayflower, Southampton, from March 22 to 27. Tickets are priced from £10. For more information, call the box office on 023 8071 1811.
