FOOTBALL-mad youngsters living on a Southampton housing estate got a kick- start to the new year.
Neighbourhood wardens in Millbrook installed a new football goal on land at Teme Crescent.
The goal was the brainchild of Bob Reeve - the Outer Shirley community safety co-ordinator.
He worked in partnership with residents, young people and neighbourhood wardens to get the goalposts installed.
It is hoped that the goal will help combat youth nuisance in the area by providing young people with something constructive to do.
Bob said: "The young people just want activities to stop them getting bored - and the older residents were happy for football to be played in the area.
"They just wanted to see a safe goal erected in the centre of the green so stray balls would not cause any damage."
