A SOUTHAMPTON man attacked as he left a new year party is still fighting for his life in hospital.
Phil Clayton suffered severe head injuries in an incident outside Netley Central Sports and Social Club, Station Road, Netley Abbey, early on New Year's Day.
Yesterday he was still being treated for his injuries in intensive care at Southampton's General Hospital - but a spokesman said his condition was stable.
The boilermaker, from Woolston, Southampton, was leaving a 200-strong party when the incident happened.
Three men, aged 24, 32 and 42 have been arrested and bailed on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.
A spokesman from Hedge End CID said yesterday that investigations were continuing.
