It may be another new year but it's the same old story at The Cuthbury where unbeaten Wimborne Town churned out their 20th league victory in 23 starts this season.
The Magpies were tested by Moneyfields in their 3-2 win but manager Paul Arnold dismissed talk that the unbeaten tag puts extra pressure on his team.
"The players don't feel any extra pressure although I suppose we did make hard work of the win today. But, as I've said before, all we are trying to do is accumulate as many points as possible," said Arnold.
Moneyfields worked the leaders hard and even took the lead on 20 minutes when Lee Mould got the vital touch from a free kick delivered into the near post area.
The home side levelled after 30 minutes, Mark Smith's cross being flicked in at the near post by Jamie Sturgess, and they took the lead five minutes later when Marcus Oldbury chipped the 'keeper from the corner of the penalty area.
Wimborne added a third early in the second half courtesy of Oldbury following good work by Smith and Paul Roast before Moneyfields pulled a goal after 70 minutes through Danny Boyle.
All the action came in the second half at Grigg Lane where second-placed Winchester City finally overcame Brockenhurst 4-0 to stay seven points off the pace - albeit with two vital games in hand.
City led after 49 minutes, Brock player/manager Graham Kemp's goal-kick falling to Liam Green who picked out Andy Forbes to curle home a superb effort from just outside the penalty area.
Gary Green got away down the left flank and crossed for Forbes to fire in from a narrow angle on 68 minutes and they made three in the 75th minute when they caught the home side on the counter.
From a Brockenhurst corner, City broke with three against three and Lloyd Webber, Steve Tate and Forbes passed the ball between them before Webber lashed the ball in from the edge of the penalty area.
City made it four after 88 minutes, Forbes crossing from the left for Ian Mancey to nod home from inside the six-yard box.
Gosport's narrow 1-0 victory at Downton was marred by Adam Canfield's late red card for the alleged use of foul and abusive language.
Assistant manager Gary Lee, who was away on an FA Vase spying mission on opponents Oadby Town with boss Mick Marsh, said: "It's very disappointing to hear about the sending off but we will be dealing with it."
The only goal of the game came on the hour mark when Stuart Hensman sprinted onto Darren Robson's pass to grab three more vital points.
Another manager who missed his team winning was bed-ridden AFC Totton manager Barry Blankley who was laid lay by a virus for his side's 3-0 home win against Blackfield & Langley.
Chris Marwood gave Totton an interval lead with a fine 18-yard drive before running from the halfway line to square the ball for Scott Holman for their second goal on 55 minutes.
Holman notched his second and Totton's third on the hour mark following a goalmouth scramble.
Totton's assistant manager Gary Birch said: "It was a very competitive game and we were on top in the second half but, whereas we didn't get the rub of the green against BAT last week, we did this afternoon."
